Glass Contractors Inc.
One Vision….
At GCI, our singular vision is to assist our customers to be profitable through the products and services we supply. At GCI, a collaborative cost savings process is available to our customers that entails more than just a low price.
GCI strives to be a supplier teamed with the customer, offering a product line that is highest in quality and available with the best possible technical support.
Where we come from…..
In the spring of 1962, John Elenga began his career in the glass industry working full time at Interstate Glass Company. Five years later, John and his partner opened their own business, Glass Contractors Incorporated. Working hard to establish his glass replacement and new construction glass installation business, John was eventually able to purchase 100% of Glass Contractors in 1976.
In 1981, Glass Contractors purchased a Shat-R-Proof auto glass warehouse and began providing quality wholesale auto glass to the region’s installers. Later that same year, John purchased Glass Contractor’s first edging machine and started producing fabricated glass shelves. As Glass Contractors continued to grow, John purchased Benson Insulated Glass in 1988 and began producing insulated glass products. This later became Omaha Insulated Glass (OIG). To complete the trio, Glass Contractors purchased Aluminum & Window Products (AWP) in 1997 and began fabricating and selling aluminum and hollow metal door products.
For the next several years, Glass Contractors and its sister companies continued growing and working separately, yet in tandem, providing quality products and service to our customers. In August of 2006, we broke ground on a new state-of-the-art facility designed to house, support, and grow all three companies (GCI, OIG, & AWP) under one roof. What started in the spring of 1962, cultivated through over 40 years of hard work and determination, became real when we were able to realize our unifying vision: on April 30, 2007, we officially opened for business under the name GCI.
Where we are going….
Moving three different companies into one place took tremendous planning and hard work, but with the combined efforts of a great many people, we made it happen.
In addition to our original products, GCI now operates it’s own tempering furnace. We have added new cutting tables and fabrication machines as well as several new products lines that will enable us to continue to meet our customers’ needs in this ever-changing industry.
We are grateful to all of our customers. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to provide so many quality products and great customer service. Thank you!
